    UK Home Admin Checklist

A practical checklist for the recurring bits of life admin that people forget (until it’s urgent). Use it as a monthly/quarterly reset.

    How to use this

Pick one day a month. Run through the checklist. Add anything you care about to Home Concierge so you get reminders before deadlines.

    Takes 10–15 minutes

    Cars & driving

Keep the legal stuff current, avoid fines, and reduce last-minute scrambles.

    • MOT expiry date (and where the V5C/logbook is)
    • Vehicle tax renewal date (or confirm it’s set to auto-renew)
    • Insurance renewal date + policy documents
    • Breakdown cover details (phone number + policy number)
    • Service history + next service due
    • Tyres: last check + tread depth reminder

    Home essentials

The basics that bite when you only remember them at the worst moment.

    • Home insurance renewal date + documents
    • Boiler service date / reminder
    • Smoke alarm / CO alarm test schedule
    • Meter locations + how to shut off water/gas
    • Appliance warranties (boiler, washing machine, etc.)
    • Key contractor contacts (plumber/electrician/locksmith)

    Utilities & bills (lightweight)

Just enough to stay organised without turning your life into spreadsheets.

    • Broadband contract end date (so you can switch in time)
    • Mobile contract end date
    • Council tax account details
    • Energy supplier + account numbers
    • Direct debit review (quarterly): anything that should be cancelled?

    Family & life admin

The things that sit in the background… until they don’t.

    • Passport expiry dates (everyone)
    • NHS numbers (stored somewhere safe)
    • GP / dentist details
    • School term dates and key deadlines
    • Emergency contacts list

Documents & ‘where is that thing?’

Reduce the time spent hunting for PDFs and envelopes.

    • House: deeds / tenancy agreement / landlord contacts
    • Car: V5C, insurance docs, service receipts
    • Important IDs: passports, driving licences
    • Wills / powers of attorney (if applicable)
    • Home inventory basics (photos for insurance claims)

Want this as reminders, not a document?

Add your key dates once. Then stop thinking about them until you get a nudge.

Note: this checklist is general guidance, not legal or financial advice.
